My Other Pride and Joy

Brooke playing basketball in January---it wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, so now she's waiting for soccer to start in May!
These indoor-action shots have been the most challenging for me---I tried everything, but they turned out pretty crappy---I did have the ISO set to 800, so that probably accounts for the noise in this pic.
I think I need an external flash---it's on my list!

My Pride and Joy

Keturah and Abby at their weekly riding lesson in April!

Giddyup! Some of my favourite horse pics...

April Flowers, then May Showers?

I found a bunch of tulips at the Napanee Riverside Park when we were out walking on the weekend..since we haven't had our April showers yet, we must be getting the flowers first..OK by me!

Spring is one of my favourite times of the year, when all the colour comes back into the world!

Meow!

Here's a cute kitty who lives at the farm where Keturah rides. He was just so cute posing like that...Actually he was up on the rock to get away from the dogs so I took advantage and clicked away.
Did you know all the pros say that you have to take at least 10 shots to get 1 perfect shot. I've been doing this since I heard about that tidbit, so my hard drive will be filling up fairly fast. I've been known to take on average over 100 pics/hour (at least at the farm). I was even asked if I take pictures for a living because I'm never without my camera! Someday maybe!

Whoo Whoo

Whoo's that pretty bird? This is an owl I shot (well with my camera anyway) at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area (north of Kingston) on the March Break. It was so cool---Kevin actually noticed it from like 300 feet away or so and when I zoomed in my camera, I could just barely make out the fact that it was an owl.

So, we hiked to the other side of the area, where he was sitting on a branch and lo and behold he was still there. We had to walk in deep snow and I actually sunk down into it about to my knees in a swamp area, but it was well worth it. He wasn't scared at all and just sat there on his branch posing for me!

A once-in-a-lifetime shot I'm sure...This convinced me that I love nature/outdoor photography the best!

My other passion...

Horses---Yep, they are 2nd on my list of faves these days.
Keturah rides horses at Raspberry Ridge in Newburgh, Ontario and I take my camera with me every week in the hopes of catching a cool picture or two.
A couple of weeks ago, I caught this one of Jerome laughing at a joke that Chanel told him (okay, that's what I THINK he's doing!).
Enjoy!

I thought I would start with a picture I took in Niagara Falls, like the day after I bought my new camera---My two beauties standing in front of the falls...

Hello!

Hi There,

This is my blog to showcase some pictures that are near and dear to my heart---funny, original and hopefully creative!

I have always loved photography, but since December, when I purchased a Nikon D40 DSLR, I have wanted to learn more and experiment with my new camera...

And now, I've started this blog to show off my photos!

I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Thanks and have a great day!
Susan
