Laughing Gulls

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting photos of the Laughing Gull. Wikipedia has this to say about the Laughing Gull:

The Laughing Gull (Leucophaeus atricilla) is a medium-sized gull of North and South America. It breeds on the Atlantic coast of North America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Northernmost populations migrate further south in winter, and this species occurs as a rare vagrant to western Europe. (There was an influx into North-west Europe in late October 2005 when at least 18, possibly as many as 35, individuals occurred on one day in the UK alone.) The Laughing Gull's English name is derived from its raucous kee-agh call, which sounds like a high-pitched laugh "ha... ha... ha...".

We saw these guys in Calabash, NC. We go for a drive North, to a gift shop called Callahans and we walk along the docks and have lunch at Captain Nances (yummy)!

This is Keturah's favourite bird to look for in Myrtle Beach and so I took a "few" photos!

Well, Brooke headed back on the train on Sunday! And of course, her first train was late, which made her miss her second one! Sigh! Via ended up bussing them all to Kitchener! She's only had about 2 trips that were on time and problem-free! That will be her last trip on the train til Thanksgiving as she won't be home for Easter :-( due to exams! We will be picking her up on the 24th and she'll be home all summer!

This week is quiet, which is good! I'll get some job hunting done!

More later this week...
